With over eight years of experience in the health field, I have come to be very skeptical and hesitant to recommend many exercise professionals, mostly due to their general lack of education and attention to detail, leading to poor results and even injury. I met Karen after learning that Pilates helped my best friend reclaim her pre-baby belly. What began as a step toward a more physically fit body has become a metaphor for my life—so much less about the destination and so much more about the journey. With Karen’s instruction, Pilates has given me the vehicle with which to strengthen my body, my mind, and my spirit. With greater focus and discipline in the last three years, I earned a Masters Degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University while working full-time, decided (as a result of Karen’s encouragement) to become certified to teach Pilates, and have taken measurable steps to improve my nutrition and overall health (due in great part to Karen’s passion and knowledge of the subject). Karen has been both a teacher and an inspiration to me and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to know her and work closely with her.

I first met Karen through a group mat class at Sportcenter about seven years ago. I have done small group Pilates training with Karen for the past two years. My body has become very toned and streamlined thanks to her excellent teaching. She was also very instrumental in the rehabilitation of my broken foot last year, enabling me to continue with Pilates as she modified my workouts, and eventually helped me to heal completely from the injury. She also inspired me to become a Pilates instructor. I worked on a Pilates certification last year that I could not have completed without Karen’s support. She became my mentor and spent countless hours helping me learn the coursework, giving me valuable teaching tips, and encouraging me to hone my newly-acquired skills.
